Overview

We have provided an exceptional camp experience for over 80 years.
Camp Goodwill, one of two Goodwill camps in the United States, is a week-long safe haven for 500 children ages 8 to 12. While the home life of the kids we serve is many times unthinkable, for many, their week at camp may be the only time all summer when they get three squares a day. Where they have running water, a clean place to sleep and get to swim in a pool. Where they can laugh, eat ice cream, feel safe, make friends, have fun and be a kid. Where they learn life skills and lessons not taught at home or school, like respect for the disabled children who attend camp right along beside them.
Since 1927, 70,000 children ages 8 to 12, from all different walks of life have experienced Camp Goodwill. These children learn skills and life lessons that are not easily taught in a classroom during in their week-long stay. The camp is unique as it is the only camp in the Midwest that successfully integrates the camp experience of mainstream and disabled children.
Every year approximately 3,000 children and adults from various church groups and service organizations are able to enjoy the experience provided by Camp Goodwill at its beautiful location, on 100 scenic acres around Crystal Lake, near South Sioux City, Nebraska. The camp is nestled in gigantic cottonwood trees and connected to five miles of trails and other amenities.
Our facilities
Over the years the camp has experienced numerous capital improvements. Overnight cabins have been replaced thanks to generous donors and the volunteer labors of numerous groups including firemen, Boy Scouts and Western Iowa Tech students. In 2002, a $1.3 million pool and shower facility brought a new dimension to camp, and most recently a building constructed to house a computer lab became a real plus on rainy days. In the fall of 2011, having provided children with an exceptional camping experience for over 80 years, a new multi-use building, known as the Camp Achievement Center opened, beginning a whole new chapter in Camp Goodwill’s service to the area. All thanks to the generosity of numerous donors, grants, endowments and bequests. This very practical, extremely functional and well thought out facility, houses a large multipurpose room, kitchen, safety shelter, Arts and Culture room, small conference/meeting room, offices and overnight room. Attached to the center’s south side, over-looking camp is a covered outdoor amphitheater. The Achievement Center transitioned the camp into a year-round facility, not only increasing our capacity to serve more children, but a wide variety of groups and service organizations.
