Message from President John Hantla and Chairperson Jan Poulson
“Collaboration” was the appropriate word for Goodwill Industries in 2007. It is such a great feeling knowing that businesses, churches, families, organizations and individuals came to ask how they could be more involved with our Goodwill movement. These are the many friends who spent countless hours volunteering at our Thanksgiving Dinners in Sioux City and Sioux Falls , putting new shoes and socks on the feet of thousands of children at our annual Shoe and Mitten Parties, as well as volunteering time and talent to children attending our camp in the summer.

2007 brought more collaboration into the Sioux Falls area as well. Since 1965 Goodwill has had a presence in this community and more recently we have teamed up with Southeastern Behavioral HealthCare to make individuals with disabilities more acceptable in the work force. Creating jobs is what Goodwill does and we do it very well thanks to the many businesses who give us a chance to show them that people with disabilities can work just as hard or harder than many non-disabled workers.

This year has been a most rewarding one for me, Jan Poulson our Board Chair, our Goodwill board, staff and consumers. We have had the challenges of other businesses and have risen to them because of dedicated staff and volunteers. Both Jan and I want to thank all the donors, businesses, churches, service organizations and the public in general for believing in the Goodwill mission of “Building Independence, Quality of Life and Work Opportunities” for our consumers. From all of us at Goodwill Industries we want to thank you for a great 2007 and offer our promise to work equally as hard in 2008.
